Hair Colouring Tips:
a)
Before Colouring:
1)
Shampoo and condition your hair properly. Wait for two days, to
give the natural oils in your scalp time to resurface. This will
protect the scalp from chemical reactions and also help hair
colour to set better, giving uniformed results overall.
2)
Hair colours, like perms, are chemically based. If you’re
pregnant, be sure to check with your doctor before colouring
your hair.
3)
Check if your hair colour is a “progressive dye”. Progressive
dyes continually add more colour with each use. For instance, if
you’re colouring blond hair black, your first use of a
progressive hair colour may not give the result you expected.
However, continued use will turn your hair jet black.
b)
While Colouring:
-
On the day of hair colour, you need to first arrange the
toolkit for the hair colouring purpose. Put on an old
t-shirt and collect some older towels and washcloths. Get
some hair clips for sectioning your hair, a handy timer and
a hand mirror, which will enable you to view the back of
your head.
-
Follow the mixing instructions exactly as given.
-
Use protective gloves and an old towel.
-
For the ends, apply hair colour that is one level darker,
without adding the developer.
-
Highlighting is a great way to add tone to monochromatic
hair (jet black, pure brown).
-
Rinse your hair thoroughly. Rinse, until the water runs
clear.
-
Condition your hair properly. After the colouring process,
hair becomes very vulnerable to damage.
c)
After Colouring:
-
To make your colouring to last longer, rinse your hair in
lemon based solution immediately after dyeing. This raises
the strength of the hair colour.
-
Bleaching your hair roots is required after shampooing.
-
Try to stay out of the pool and the ocean after colouring
your hair.
